Pollution
Air Pollution One of the biggest problems in Moscow city is pollution and because Moscow is a megacity there are a lot of factories and people too pollute the city. Last year Moscow city emitted 995 million tons of pollution into the air. These emissions were measured from cars and stationary objects such as factories, 93% of emissions were from cars, the amount of air pollution emitted in Moscow increased 4.4% last year. 1:the Moscow times, 2014 Suggestions by the Moscow council on ways to prevent the air pollution There is no real way of preventing the air pollution because it has already happened and it is one of the problems that will not be able to just be taken away the only way of preventing more air pollution is by moving the factories somewhere else which is unlikely to happen. One of my recommendations for making Moscow more liveable whilst your among the smog is to wear a respi mask or to just stay inside. Traffic Congestion Moscow is 1st ranked one of the most congested cities in Moscow according to the index of the worlds major cities. The tom tom navigation company is proving that the average time it takes to get from one point to another during rush hour is increasing. 2:the Moscow times, 2014“Traffic jams in Moscow and other Russian regions are more a man-made problem. Because if we look at other big cities in the West – the number of cars there are much larger than in Moscow, but I have not seen there such traffic jams as we have here. And the conclusion is that we are bad at organising and directing the traffic flow,” said Viktor Pokhmelkin, State Duma Deputy.3: Question More, 2007 Suggestions by the Moscow council on ways to prevent the traffic congestion. The city authorities installed a computerised traffic control system that would aloo them to widen and modernise the road system, some of the Russian it companies have been advising not the shortest but the quickest way from A to B. question more 2014. I haven't been able to find many solutions to this problem so my suggestion is to build more parking and widen the roads, adding more lanes and instead of driving your car use bikes as often as possible. also another way to save time is to try to be more active maybe even walk or run from A to B especially during rush hour. bibliography 1:the Moscow times, NG 2014, Moscow Rated Russia's Second Most Polluted City,National geographic, accessed 18 August 2014, <http://www.themoscowtimes.com/special/environment/eng/norilsk_-moscow_-and-st_-petersburg-rated-worst-polluters.html> 2:The moscow times, T 2014, Battle Against Moscow Congestion Rages On, The moscow times, accessed 26 August 2014, <http://www.themoscowtimes.com/business/article/battle-against-moscow-congestion-rages-on/488949.html>. 3: . 2014. .
